While no one likes to be sick on Christmas, that is exactly what has happened to me. Working crazy hard days to get all our amazing clients lookin’ fab before their holiday plans begin took a bit of a toll. I’m certain you all have similar stories. As much as we want the holiday season to be absolutely perfect, this can bring major challenges. I am certainly susceptible to the images presented by Pinterest and Instagram of all the wonderful ways to celebrate and this can be intimidating (and sometimes depressing!). So, suffice it to say, I had a beautiful Christmas and didn’t feel good.
So I decided to make this illness a spa break… Yeah, that’s how I roll. I pulled out all my favorite products and gave myself a facial, deep conditioned my hair, drank green drinks and tons of water, soaked in a detox bath of Epsom salts, baking soda, and lavender essential oils, and ate nothing but great, healthy food. I used the opportunity of being sequestered away from family as a chance to do all that I never really have time for. And here are my favorites…
I turned on a movie marathon and pulled out my beautiful new Dior pajamas (thanks, Mom).
First came the Arctic Berry Facial Peel. This is a wonderful home kit from Eminence with a peel mild enough to be done twice a week, that leaves you just slightly pink. This self-neutralizing Multi-Acid 10% peel gently and effectively removes dead layers of skin. Plant stem cells and lingonberry seed oil, this system reduces the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and discoloration. The final step is the Peptide Radiance Cream. A blend of 4 antioxidant-rich plants (cloudberry seed, arctic roseroot, arctic meadowsweet and juniper sprouts); helps prevent the signs of aging, Lingonberry Seed Oil provides essential vitamins and minerals and omega 3 fatty acids to replenish the skin’s moisture. Also, an illuminating complex of antioxidant-rich mix of hibiscus seed botanical peptides, gardenia stem cells and yellow plum extract.
My eyes were then treated with the Neroli Eye Serum (Neroli oil, coconut water and green apple stem cell technology fight the visible signs of aging, including the appearance of crow’s feet and fine lines) and Lavender Age Corrective Night Concentrate (Rich argan oil, jojoba oil and shea better improve the look of your skin’s density and aid in reducing the appearance of wrinkles).
Perfect Pucker? Yup, Eminence has it covered. Exfoliate, plump and protect with fresh citrus and nourishing shea butter. Step one is a lip exfoliator, step two is a plumping masque, and step three is the Citrus Lip Balm. While I love the three part system, clients prefer Jane Iredale’s Lip Drink for keeping lips perfectly soft. However, today I find mine to be soft and full after all three.
After a soak with a good book, came a deep conditioning treatment for my hair. Curls require plenty of moisture and the new treatment from Organic Salon Systems was perfect. With ECOCERT organic white tea extract, it provides excellent anti-oxidization, its professional deep repairing benefits restores hair strength and elasticity. My hair is super soft, shiny, and smells clean and fresh. (This is a new product that will be offered at Verde as an add-on service $30).
And finally, on my nightstand is Mavala’s Nailactin. This product is offered in a tube, but I love glass jars. There is something so elegant about little jars of wonderful products. Nailactin is a rich restructuring cream containing vitamins and proteins for nourishing the nail base. It soaks in quickly and helps nails grow quickly and stay flexible.
Suddenly, I didn’t feel so badly. While I knew I was sick (the coughing was a dead giveaway), I felt clean, soft, and smelled pretty, even though I didn’t look pretty! I also knew that my choices were helping my body to heal.
See you all soon!
