Why the repeat? Is it really necessary? What if I just fill my hand with shampoo and give it a go? Have you ever had this thought cross your mind? I have. Here’s your answer and the proper way to wash your hair with organic shampoo…
Make certain you are using the proper shampoo for your hair health (this should be accomplished with a Wet Stretch Test). Thoroughly wet your hair. Organic Salon Systems shampoos do not have the water added that typical shampoos do and are therefore more concentrated. Without enough water they will not lather properly. One pump or a quarter size amount of shampoo should be administered through the body of your hair simply to begin breaking down styling products and dirt collected from the air on the strand of hair. This should be a quick pass, and rinse. Repeat, but with two pumps, I will sometimes rub my hands together and quickly pass the shampoo under the water to get the lather going before I distribute through the hair. This round should be all about the scalp, gently rubbing the scalp to dissolve oil and get blood flow to the scalp. By now you will have a good, full lather. Don’t pile your hair on top of your head and never rub the ends of your hair together, as the ends are cleansed just by the action of the soapy water running through them. Rinse very well before conditioning.
I have had clients say they feel like conditioner makes their hair fall out. It is simply because hair may have been tangled and the conditioner creates slip, allowing the hair to be rinsed loose. I have also had clients begin coming to Verde because they have noticed hair loss and scalp flaking. This is sometimes caused when you use chemical products such as sodium laureth sulphate, as your scalp can become dry and irritated. Within most shampoos you will find a foaming chemical called sodium laureth sulphate.
“Although commonly used, this chemical can damage your hair, your skin and your health. The Hair Loss Control Clinic explain that sodium laureth sulphate can even cause your hair growth cycle to decline and suggest the chemical can prolong your hair loss phase. So to keep your hair thick and luscious, choose products that do not contain this chemical, like organic shampoos and conditioners.” Huffington Post
When someone becomes alarmed and sees a doctor for treatment, they may be told to use Head and Shoulders or other chemical treatments. Such products can burn your scalp, cause irritation, and dry out hair strands. Verde Salon has a product designed to actually heal your irritated scalp. Soothe Plus is a special shampoo that is color safe, while calming and rebalancing irritated and sensitive scalps naturally. Packed full of botanical and certified organic ingredients such as aloe and chamomile to provide a calming and soothing effect.
