Olaplex. An incredibly odd name, for an amazingly wonderful product. Verde Salon is proud to be offering this ground breaking technology in hair color and lightening services. Olaplex is a new invention that can rebuild, repair, and strengthen the disulfide bonds in hair, allowing clients to push the envelope further without compromising the integrity of their hair. For a while now, this has been quietly making the rounds with all the major colorists around the country. Movie stars have been experiencing Olaplex for a while now and it won the 2014 Allure Breakthrough Award.
Verde stylists were watching and I began asking questions. If it isn’t non-toxic, I’m never interested. After speaking with a sister salon, The B Hive Organic Salon in New Jersey, and following other organic salons experiences with it, I decided to order it for Verde. We love Neuma Hair Care products and when I discovered that the creator of Olaplex, Dean Christal, is the brother of Neuma founder Don, I decided this was something we would be interested in. I had trouble finding information regarding any ingredients. According to Behind The Chair magazine, this product is a single molecule that can link broken bonds in hair together again. Two of the creators of Olaplex are famous for work helping to stop organ transplants from being rejected by the body. We have been assured it is completely non-toxic, although it is not recommended for drinking it (umm, don’t worry… I don’t want to drink Organic Color Systems hair color, either).
According to Melanie Nichols, founder of OrganicHairProductReview.com Follow this link to read her full bio and complete review:
“Looking at the MSDS sheets, there is one main ingredient and water. I honestly am not familiar with the ingredient listed, but it is said that it is non-toxic, free of silicone or oils, and it links broken bonds in the hair during and after chemical services making them stronger than they were before.
The Bond Perfector is basically a conditioner. It has a Bis-(Maleimidoethoxy) Ethane which is a prepolymer ingredient, along with a bunch of other conditioning agents, and also Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine which is a conditioning agent used as a water soluable silicone replacement. The only other thing I would mention about this ingredient list is that it does contain wheat protein and wheat amino acids…in case anyone has allergies or sensitivities to wheat.”
