Our family loves to travel. We love being together, we laugh a lot, and I believe it to be healthy for them to see a bigger picture. One of the downsides to this, I have found, is the exposure to different water and foods from what we are used to. We have recently installed a whole house filtration system and didn’t immediately notice a huge improvement. Yes, it was nice to not have the chlorine smell and my skin has been much better, but it wasn’t some light from heaven moment with my hair. Then we went to Orlando, Florida for a week of Universal Studios fun. After the first wash, my hair felt dry and my curls were crispy. I expected my curly hair to be frizzy, I practically look like a sheep while I’m there, but I thought all that moisture in the air would make it soft. Halfway through the trip I used a Malibu Crystal Gel Vitamin C Treatment to remove the build-up and I had my soft curls back for a few days. I had to do it again when I got home. We offer this as an in-salon treatment (Vitamin C Treatment – for the link to my Blog post regarding this treatment) for $25 and it can make a huge difference in the feel and behavior of your hair. I also wanted to share my absolute love for jane iredale’s Tantasia Self-tanner and Bronzer. I have always been fair skinned and my grandfather died of skin cancer, so I have protected my skin all my life. This is a wonderful thing as I am now 42 and reaping the benefits of a life protected. However, it is fun to LOOK tan sometimes, especially at the beach! This product gave my skin an immediate glow and maintained the color for several days. It was perfect. I mixed it in with my body lotion for a gradual tan that stayed nice all week. I wouldn’t use it right before bed, especially if crawling into nice white sheets. Allow it to dry on your skin first. The smell is light and more pleasant than other self-tanners I have used and it was very easy to spread without crazy streaks or lots of rubbing. It was plenty of color for me, but someone with more natural color might not see much of a change. I used the company’s new Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion over it for a nice subtle iredescent sheen to my skin.
Eminence Organic Skincare has this Tropical Vanilla Body SPF 32 Sunscreen and it worked beautifully, even through crazy, wet rides at Universal Studios. (This does not claim it is waterproof, it just worked for us this way.) We didn’t so much as get a pink nose! I can’t rave about this product enough, especially since my son has extremely sensitive skin and was thrilled it didn’t burn his eyes.
Ok, one last tip! I will never again travel on a plane without Bulletproof Bars. They are easy to carry, without melting in heat, and filled me up while still maintaining a healthy fat/protein ratio. They are made with the best and cleanest ingredients, which will help to keep your immunity high while exposed to all kinds of germs on a plane.
